The NSW Department of Education is reforming the curriculum which is being taught in all classrooms from Kindergarten to Year 12. The new curriculum will ensure students develop strong foundations for learning, life and work in a complex and fast-changing world.
At our school we are currently engaging in and enacting new English and Mathematics K-2 and 3-6 syllabuses, with staff undergoing professional learning activities both individually and as part of whole-school development. Some key leadership ideas for me as well:
-The wonderful potential of curriculum reform, with it “becoming the vehicle for school & student growth and for cultural change”
-Ensuring that implementation that is not superficial, but deep and embedded
-That any delivery of curriculum is reflective of and responsive to our context and to the students’ needs.
Congratulations to our girls basketball team who this week defeated Bexhill PS in the PSSA knockout. Congratulations also to the school’s debating team who did wonderfully well at the Northern Rivers Gala Day. The nice thing about these victories was that, even though the basketball was a very one-sided game and our well-entrenched debating skills were very evident, our participants displayed sportsmanship and kindness to their opponents.
Congratulations to Evie, Tom, Charlie and Ayla who won our school’s Multicultural Public Speaking Competition this week, and good luck to them in the Regional Final on the 14th June.
Congratulations, too, to all of our students who represented the school at the Northern Rivers Zone Cross Country Carnival. Well done to Evie, Jasmine and Bridget who qualified for the North Coast finals.
As always, the school will try to give you plenty of notice as to upcoming events, whether via the school website, Flexi-schools or See-saw. Upcoming events for Term 2 include:
