Our state champion debating team
Image: Our Cool Blue debating team beat out hundreds of other schools to be crowned state champions in 2022.
Alstonville Public School offers a debating program which culminates in the Premiers Debating Challenge for Years 5 and 6. The program is open to all students in Years 5 and 6 with Year 4 students also welcomed to join the debating club and shadow the older students to help prepare them gain experience. Debating takes place at 8:00am on Fridays during Term and runs for the duration of the Premiers Debating competition.
Students are coached on how to brainstorm ideas within a local and national context and how to use persuasive language effectively.
Alstonville Public School has a proud history in the Premiers Debating Challenge, winning the state-wide tournament in 2011 and 2022.
