Far North Coast Dance Festival

APS dancers

On Tuesday 4th June, 29 APS students danced in the Far North Coast Dance Festival at Tweed Heads. This festival involves over 1000 students from public primary and high schools from the Tweed, Murwillumbah and Lismore districts.

Alstonville entered in both a senior and junior team. Both teams were approved following an audition process. The girls rallied together putting on a bake sale to fund this opportunity. They were extremely grateful and thankful for the support they received. Prior to the performance both teams were dedicated to the following over Term 1 and 2.

Nya, Immi, Aiya, Willow, Fleur, Indie, Talulah and Adelade from year 5/6 would meet in the hall every Monday and Tuesday with Miss Johnstone to perfect her choreography to 'Keep Your Head up' by artist Birdy. Getting in any extra practices they could to perfect their timing and movements before the performance day where they all shined on stage after a full day of dress rehearsals. An amazing opportunity and experience for these girls.

Zenya, Bayleigh, Lucy, Alexis, Pippi, Harper, Georgia, Mia, Piper, Layla, Mabel, Ayda, Natalie, Zunairah, Poppy, Veronica, Tija, Bella, Charli, Margot and Jasmin from year 2/3/4 would meet in the hall every Wednesday and Thursday with Miss Johnstone to practice her choreography to 'Surfin' U.S.A.' by artist The Beach Boys. With lots of formations in this dance they worked amazingly as a team to count steps and movements to execute these formations. Not surprisingly they brought their full energy and grooviness to the stage! *Poppy B and Letti were unable to make the performance but should be proud of their dedication to practices.

Congratulations, APS is very proud of you girls and the way you represented the school. Thank you to all of the parents/carers for their support.

Also thank you to Mrs Christensen, Melissa Taylor, Kalysha Davis and Anthea Payne for making this day possible.

Kind regards,

Miss Johnstone
