Congratulations to our Arts team, which won the Tournament of Minds state championship on Sunday.
Tournament of Minds is a problem solving program for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. Tournament's aim is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.
They are required to solve demanding, open-ended challenges from one of the following disciplines: STEM, The Arts, Social Sciences and Language Literature.
A fortnight ago, APS sent four teams to the regional finals, one in each discipline. We won The Arts, Social Sciences and STEM and received tournament honours (second place) in Language Literature. Our three winning teams flew to Sydney last weekend to take part in the state finals.
All three teams competed strongly against very tough opposition. At the end of the day, our STEM team were awarded tournament honours (second place) and our Arts team were declared state champions. They will now go on to represent NSW at the TOM International Final, to be held in Melbourne in Term 4.
Well done to all four teams. Many thanks to our amazing parents and families, without whose support none of this would have been possible. Good luck in Melbourne!
